· Miss Wong: She taught in China and will be tr= aining at St. Anne so that she can return to China as an administrator<= /span>

· New School Committee format: Agenda items must be submitted at least one week prior to= the meeting in order to be discussed at the meeting

· New Sub-Committees: Notre Dame Committee, Technology Committee, Grant Committee=

IV.&= nbsp; Discussion Items

a)&n= bsp; Homework Policy: Preschool students – family projects/homework; Kindergarten – monthly homework; 1^st – 8^th grade – 10 minutes of homework per grade (i.e.= 5^th graders should have no more than 50 minutes of homework each night); no homework on weekends or holidays with the exception of reading and writing. Homework should focus on understanding, repetition, and mastery. When stude= nts are out on vacation, they have an amount of time equal to their absence to = turn in missed work (i.e. if a student is out for one week, they have one week to turn in the homework they missed while on vacation).

b)&n= bsp; 5^th Grade Math Texts: Students use Sadlier Progress in Mathematics texts. If students are not able to find enough examples in the book, they can also refer to the website www.sadlier-oxford.com – there are examples and review which correspond to the work in the texts. Some teachers also hav= e a link to the site on their web page.

c)&n= bsp; Advanced Math Classes:&n= bsp; St. Anne will focus on high level math skills being taught by highly qualified teachers for all students.

d)&n= bsp; Math Scores on IOWA Tests= : St. Anne will focus on high level = math skills being taught by highly qualified teachers for all students – t= his should be reflected on IOWA Test scores. Math scores on the IOWA test will improve once overall math instruction improves.

e)&n= bsp; MLA College Formatted papers<= /b>: Teaches will begin to introduce MLA Format to students beginning in the second term; they will begin in 1^s=
t grade and continue through 8^th grade.

f)&n= bsp;       Dress Code: The dress code differs by grade level. Preschool students do = not have the same uniform as students in grades K – 12.=

g)&n= bsp;    Technology: Newly formed Technology Committee;= new computers in the computer lab; the committee has a plan in place to address= the technology concerns of the school

h)&n= bsp;    Elementary Building Roof: The roof was patched this summer. Mr. Sahadi will talk with Fr. Bondy regarding future plans for repair/replacement.

i)&n= bsp;       Circle of Grace: Content is controlled by the Dioces= es; teaches students how to identity and maintain appropriate boundaries; it wi= ll begin in the 2^nd term; parents will have the opportunity to opt = out; parents may review the curriculum on-line by searching for “circle of grace”; teachings are grounded in the Catholic faith.

j)&n= bsp;       PA System: Current PA system is operational, b= ut a new system is still needed.

k)&n= bsp;     Homework Papers: Mr. Sahadi will address the turnaro= und time for graded papers with the teachers.

l)&n= bsp;       Social Studies/Science Instruction in Grades 1 – 5: Science – students learn about the universe, scientific methods, view= of the world, etc. Social Studies – students learn about home, neighborh= ood, history, etc. Higher grade levels will use the science labs and will be conduction experiments. Science and Social Studies are taught daily.

m)&n= bsp; Fundraising: Needs to be coordinated with the va= rious groups/clubs in the school. T= he Fundraising Committee (sub-committee of the Notre Dame Committee will help address this concern).

n)&n= bsp;    Supervision During Indoor Recess:&nb= sp; Younger students will = by watched by older students. Adults will be supervising all students.

V.&n= bsp;     Sub-Committee Reports

a)      Men’s Club: Meets 1^s=
t Wednesday of each month; focus on school improvements; recent projects incl= ude – kids playground, painting the gym; the Grotto

b)&n= bsp;    Madonna Guild: Meets 1^st Tuesday of ea= ch month; upcoming events – Trunk or Treat.

c)&n= bsp;     Notre Dame Committee: Areas of concentration were identi= fied; the committee is currently ahead of exceptions; the committee is backed by = both the Church and the school; meetings are held monthly; additional information will be posted on the website.

d)&n= bsp;    Together in Faith: Meetings are held with three other schools in the same vicariate; meetings address challenges faced by Catholic Schools; recommendations will be made and the final plan will be sent to the Archbishop for review.

e)&n= bsp;     Booster Club:&n= bsp; (formerly the Athletic Club); the Booster Club will fundraise with t= he purpose of keeping athletics affordable for all students and fun for childr= en and parents; open meetings will be held every other month.

f)&n= bsp;       Technology Committee: Newly formed Technology Committee;= new computers in the computer lab; the committee has a plan in place to address= the technology concerns of the school; meetings are held monthly.

g)&n= bsp;    Grant Committee: Applying for various grants to rai= se money for teachers and students

VI.&= nbsp;     Next Meeting: The next School Committee meeting will be Tuesday, November 15^th. Agenda items must be submitted to one of the committee members at least one week p= rior to the meeting in order to be discussed at the meeting.
